(4 out of 5 stars) Small, Light and Easy to Use

The Canon Vixia HF R20 offers many of the features found in a larger, more expensive camcorder, but is small and light enough not to be a burden. While the higher-end Vixia models provide some serious upgrades for the enthusiast for a significant price, the casual point-and-shoot crowd will find plenty to love about the Vixia HF R20…

(4 out of 5 stars) A camera with excellent HD quality but not many features

I bought this camera on Monday, had fun with it for two days, and then returned it. Although I can’t afford it, I then closed my eyes and ordered the HDR-CX550V. I basically went from the bottom of the Sony consumer class to the top in one fell swoop.

Things I liked about the CX150:
* FABULOUS quality in adequate light. The video in 24 Mbps mode is…

(3 of 5 stars) It is what it is

I paid, after shipping, $489.99. For that price, this camera is worth it. It lacks certain features you would find on the more costly camcorders. There is no optical image stabilization, only steady-shot. No night shot, no external light, no remote… I can take about 2 hours of video on the highest setting. Battery life is about the same (2 hrs). The sound seems pretty…

Sony HDR-CX700V HD Camcorder

Sony HDR-CX700V

Sony HDR-CX700V HD Camcorder is one of the most progressive camcorders that provides a rich, detailed and absolutely stunning image that can be watched perfectly on a giant HDTV. It is probably one of the longer lasting camcorders that will hold its standard for years to come. So, you can be sure that whatever video you capture, it will be carried over to the following years and won’t probably be obsolete in a few years. Imagine how much fun it would be for you to watch and revive good times!

Sony HDR-CX700V HD Camcorder Pros and Cons:

Pros: Cons:
  • 26.3mm wide angle lens
  • True 24p frame rate
  • 1080/60p at 28Mbps. Image quality looks more real than real
  • 96GB of internal flash storage
  • Great in low light.
  • The control dial is too sensitive
  • The placement of the hot shoe, mic, and headphone inputs get in the way of actually holding the camera
  • Most of the functions are buried within the touch screen menu system
  • Although, the Geotagging is a cool idea, you need Sony software in order to view your GPS locations in each clip. You cannot see this info in Quicktime

Canon Vixia HF S21 HD Camcorder

Canon Vixia HF S21

Canon Vixia HF S21 HD Camcorder has a highly intelligent system that can recognize faces turned in any way. Be it downwards or sideways, you can guarantee a good, specific and clear shot. If you have a specific face you want to shoot, it can be the subject to continuous tracking. Of course if you want to zero in on scenes without having to fight with the glare from the sunlight or outside distractions, you can use the HF S21’s 0.27″ color viewfinder to record and review your video and still images. This way, you can capture memories all around!

Canon Vixia HF S30 HD Camcorder Pros and Cons:

Pros: Cons:
  • Zoom switch is ‘pretty good’ sure miss those BIG rocker switches they used to have
  • this camera has the HD lens which is the same lens as on their higher end camcorders.
  • You also get two SDHC slots that you can put two memory cards in there
  • 8 Megapixel camera feature. Also, you get 6Megapixel pictures that you can capture straight from video
  • comes with a 3.5″ LCD touchscreen
  • OEM Battery (BP 808) lasted me about 55 minutes in real world – easy enough to fix
  • Bulky – it is about 2 3/4″ square and does not comfortably fit my hand or anyone else who picked it up
  • I would be widely recommending it except for the incredibly poor preamplifier that adds an inordinate amount of hiss to the recording
  • Touchscreen responsiveness could be improved significantly

Canon VIXIA HF S21 HD Camcorder Specifications:

  • Video Resolution: 1920 x 1080 HD
  • Zoom (Digital/Optical Zoom): 10x HD
  • Recording Media: Flash card

My wife and her friend recently went to a school parade for our children. My wife’s friend had a video camera without a viewfinder and it was a bright sunny day. This COULD have been a superb video camera, and I would be widely recommending it except for the incredibly poor preamplifier that adds an inordinate amount of hiss to the recording. Canon Vixia HF S30 HD Camcorder

Canon Vixia HF S30 HD Camcorder is your way of being overly creative when it comes to video capturing but not go overboard with your budget! The camera has relay recording that allows you to switch from one recording mode or media to the next for smooth, uninterrupted capture of any moving or still shots you want to preserve. There are a lot of user-friendly shooting functions that you can expect from a standard camera with features like Instant AF to give you a better way of recording and actually enjoying the moment as you record without having to worry about camera settings.

Canon Vixia HF S30 HD Camcorder Pros and Cons:

Pros: Cons:
  • The touch screen is great. You don’t need to use the scroll bar on the right edge. You just run your finger up or down anywhere on the screen and it will scroll
  • One of the best features of the camera is the viewfinder
  • The BP-819 battery was more than enough for my purpose
  • It can upload footage and photos wirelessly
  • The picture quality is, of course, amazing, but that’s to be expected
  • They all come with thick manuals (211 pages) in small print and a ton of instructions
  • When connecting the Component video cable, or the RCA cable to your TV, you cannot close the camera screen. I guess this is because the remote control sensor is on the screen. This remote control has very limited playback functions: Play and Pause only
